About
Our Mission
Dissecting Quant was founded by a team of UC Berkeley undergraduates. After exploring the dense and unnecessarily convoluted world of financial literature, they set out to create something different. With backgrounds in statistics, computer science, and economics, they self-taught quantitative finance. On the way, they found the biggest barrier to understanding markets wasn't the complexity of the ideas themselves, but the way the ideas were communicated.
The publication is intentionally anonymous. We believe the work should speak for itself, and the quality of the writing speaks more than the credentials behind it.
What drives the team is a deep passion for teaching and an equally deep frustration with how financial knowledge is typically gatekept: buried in technical jargon, locked behind paywalls offering nothing of substance, or presented in ways that assume you already know what you're trying to learn. Our goal at Dissecting Quant is to build something for everyone, whether you're a curious newcomer or someone looking to sharpen your existing understanding.
Understanding the how and the why will always serve you better than the what. The what tells us the present; the how and the why guide the future. Markets and economies aren't the black boxes we've been conditioned to believe; they have mechanics, logic, and structure. We are simply dissecting them.
On the Use of AI
All content is written by people, for people, from the text you see on this page to the articles on our blog. That being said, we use AI to proofread all content before it gets published and fact-check any claims we make. The code for this website is also authored by AI. We believe that it's great at laying down the foundations and polishing our work, so our team can focus on what truly matters: everything in between.
